Bacharach is a picture-book half-timbered little town on the Rhine in the lush Rhine River Valley. Vineyards cover the hills on either side of the river. The area is known for its excellent wine and the beer was not bad either.
Herr Jung and Ginger started our local tour by singing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" and it was. We were inspired by Herr Jung and eagerly anticipated seeing and hearing him again. We felt very lucky that he was still doing tours. He is organized, passionate, and clever.
Our merry band walking through the vinyards above Bacharach.
The multi-talented wood carver played a few songs on the piano as Nancy, Wes, and Joe looked on. Joe was Nancy's bus buddy.
One of several beautiful half-timbered houses in Bacharach.
Early morning on the main street.
We stayed in the Hotel Kranenturm which is part of the old medieval fortification. We really like this unique hotel and were glad to return for another visit. Gary had trout at the restaurant and Fatimah told us a German proverb, "Trout must swim three times, once in water (the river), once in butter (when cooked), and once in white wine (after being eaten)."
