| Chartres |
| Gary, Nancy, Wes, and Ginger took the one hour train ride from Gare Montparnasse to Chartres. You can see the Cathedral from the train station but it is a short walk. We had an early lunch across from the south portal at an outside bistro. Then off to explore. Chartres is a capitivating little city great for exploring. If a person likes gothic cathedrals, Chartres is one of the best preserved and most beautiful. |
| The stained glass is breathtaking when the sun light shines through. Some of the recently cleaned windows are especially beautiful. |
| Each piece of statuary on the outside is a work of art. It is estimated that 2,000 figures decorate the cathedral. |
