Monterosso
Our hotel was located in the old town of Monterosso directly on Piazza Garibaldi and the beach.  We stayed in the Albergo Pasquale and some of the group stayed up the hill at Villa Steno.  We had one of the most memorable meals of the trip at the Ristorante Belvedere on the harborfront.  We shared the amphora di pesce - seafood stew - with Gary and Helen.  The dish is spectacular when served steaming in a huge oven-proof "vase" and was delicious.  The wine was a very nice match for the meal.  We had another meal in Monterosso at the L'Alta Marea which is in a picturesqe part of the old town.  The bruschetta was fantastic with lots of fresh tomatoes, light olive oil, and basil.  Now, we make it at home the same way.  Well, sort of.

Ristorante Belvedere is a charming setting on the harbor.
Nancy took this picture of a beautiful sunset from the window of our hotel.
We stayed in Vernazza on  previous trips to the Cinque Terre but Monterosso was a very pleasant discovery with a little different ambiance.
